Hola, hola
How did you get on with your Spanish last month? Did you manage to practice some of the Summer expressions that I showed you in July's Blog? Estamos teniendo algunos días calurosos. Es tu oportunidad perfecta. (We are having some hot days. It is your perfect opportunity.)
Vamos a ver… (Let’s see) ¿Cómo se dice… ‘ I am hot./ I feel hot’ en español?
¿Te cuesta recordarlo? (Struggling to remember?) You can check it out in the previous Blog.
Vamos a ver otra estructura del idioma español. (Let’s see another structure of the Spanish language)
‘It’s possible’ This is a very common expression used in English which Spanish students tend to translate literally. Whilst it is possible to translate literally, the most common translation for this in Spanish would be… ‘Se puede’ which would be followed by another verb in the infinitive form.
Recuerda: (remember) cuando usas dos verbos seguidos (when you use two verbs in a row) en español, el segundo verbo (the second verb) se mantiene en la forma infinitiva (remains in the infinitive form), esto significa que (this means that) no necesitas conjugar el segundo verbo. (you don’t need to conjugate the second verb)
También recuerda: (remember also) Esta es una expresión impersonal. (This is an impersonal expressión). No debemos usar pronombres personales. (We mustn't use personal pronouns) porque es un enunciado general, se aplica a todos. (It’s a general statement, applied to everyone)
Por ejemplo (for example)...
Si quieres decir (if you want to say), ‘It is possible to walk through this field.’, dirías (you would say) ‘Se puede caminar por este campo.’ Como mencioné antes, (as I mentioned before) sí puedes usar la expresión (you can use the expression) ‘es posible’ (it is possible) solamente que su uso no es tan común. (it’s just that its use is not so common).
No digas (Don’t say) ‘Nosotros se puede comer’ (‘We can eat.’).
Di (Say) ‘Se puede comer.’ (‘It’s possible to eat.’) Por ejemplo: Sí se puede comer aquí. (It ‘s possible to eat here.)
Which expression do you normally use?
