I am not good at learning languages

Updated: Apr 29

'I have a memory like a sieve!' Are you someone who thinks you are not good at languages?

I used to be one of them. Only a few of my students know this about me. I spent my whole school life being rubbish at English. People used to laugh at me when it was time to read a text in the classroom. I used to stress out when it came to doing exams in English. Several years on at the school, and I even didn't know how to use the word 'the'! Who would have said I would be moving to England as an adult, let alone teaching Spanish to English speakers. How did that happen? How did I finally start learning and understanding English? I happened to suddenly find motivation. Motivation is the clue. If you don't have motivation, you won't get too far. But always remember, every person is a different individual, with different learning styles and pace. Has learning Spanish been part of a faraway dream? You can make it happen! Find the ways that suit your needs. Start small, but steady, and you will get far! I am aware that my English isn’t perfect, but every day there is something new to learn, like anything in life.
